LCSNA Spring Meeting 2008 Photo Montage

Visit to the Library of Congress
Here we are in the Lessing Rosenwald room A group looking at the documentation of the purchase of the Under Ground manuscript Put a few rare books and documents on display and we're all over them. David Schaefer and Diane Waggoner discusing the exhibit More about the manuscript
The gift of the manuscript from America to the British people was big news in the ILN. The guest of honor, the Lewis Carroll Scrapbook, and the spine was off before we got there Mark Dimunation holding the scrapbook in front of the digitized scrapbook website. A better look at the website Leaving the Library of Congress and leaving all of the library's materials intact.

Talks at the Fairland Library
Linda Gray-Moin signing a memory card for David Schaefer. Shh... it's a surprise. Andy Malcolm and Dayna McCausland. I told you there were Canadians. Ellie Salins seems born to the podium Mark Goodacre bringing wisdom to the colonies The audience is captured by Mark's thesis.
August Imhotz asks a question. Doesn't he always? Kimie Kusumoto and Eiko Okuni from Japan. What did the photographer say? Oleg Lipchenko delivers a fascinating talk. The group is rapt throughout the talks. Kudos to speakers and listeners. Joel Birenbaum continues discussion with Oleg after the talk.

Tea with August and Clare Imholtz
The proud collectors amid friends perusing the collection People congregate in different areas of the house From their expressions someone found something special, or they spilled their tea on the new carpet Ray Kiddy holds court in the kitchen Mark Goodacre chats with Peter Atkinson. Jane Atkinson completes the British reunion
Sandra Parker Provenzano and Ann Buki find a quieter spot August Imholtz and Selwyn Goodacre pose like professionals All of a sudden Eiko remembers that joke from the library. Oleg Lipchenko signs a copy of his illustrated Alice Wendy Crandall seems happy with her new book
Dinner and an Auction at the Salins'
What's the use of a meeting without food, drink, and conversation? Stephanie Lovett with Matt and Wendy Crandall Sisters admiring the teapots and enjoying a glass of wine Tatiana Ianovskaia. You can see the start of a Cheshire Cat grin. Genevieve Smith and Tanya venture outside
Matt Crandall and Mark Goodacre. Are they talking religion or Disney? Are these guys members? Oleg, Joel, Peter Hanff, Alan Tannenbaum, Ray, Sarah Adams, and Mark. Do I detect a theme here? Now that's a Cheshire Cat grin
Like sharks to chum Bidders to the left of me Bidders to the right of me Bidders right in front of me Sharon McBride says "I think we should pay attention, Joel is explaining the rules."
Barbara Mall looks comfy in that chair, but Jane Atkinson appears equally happy on the floor. Irene Zuckerbraun looks like she has spotted a book to bid on. Lauren Goodacre was the perfect assistant, although she had a bit of trouble reading the Japanese titles. Ooh! An original Lipchenko. I think Lauren is a little miffed that I usurped her job on this one. It was all just too much for Stephanie, who seemed to suffer a case of the vapors.
And it's on to the Schaefers' for Dessert and a Big Surprise
Cindy, Andy, and Dayna
Ken and Ellie Salins (standing)
Janet Jurist and Ernie Abeles taking a moment to relax at the Schaefers' Admiring the ever appropriate decor Alan Tanenbaum trying to explain why he is wearing David's tie Ellie presenting a special drawing to her dad as her daughter looks on.
Jonathan Dixon's drawing with David as the Mad Hatter All are attentive and many record the moment for posterity David as the Mad Hatter? I don't see it. David is indeed caught by surprise August Imholtz presents a LCSNA Presidential Proclamation declaring April 26th David Schaefer day
The Following Day is Alice in Crandall-Land
Here's Alan trying to buy everything (and almost succeeding) Eiko and Ellie seem happy with one or two items. In the background Alan is adding to his stash. This reminds me of a painting, American Gothic Then it's down the rabbit hole for some serious Disney. Wall painting by Wendy Crandall. Into the Tulgey Wood. That's Matt Crandall with the Mad Hatter.
Karen Mortillaro is smiling and August is not wearing a bow tie. Father and son in Disneyland with David as guide I do believe that Selwyn is a closet Disney enthusiast The Atkinsons proving once again that Brits love Disney (or are they laughing at us?) Janet and Stephanie with more Disney as a backdrop. Is there no end to it?
Look at those big nodders. The Tweedle looks a bit like Mortimer Snerd. I never even heard of this toy or these figures or these or this lamp base, but now I have
One last picture of me taken on Sunday morning, just to see another shirt.

Here is where I got the pictures from. There are many more, but without the semi-witty captions. Taken by:
